Newsgroups: rec.sport.table-soccer I'm trying to decide if my failure at National's constitutes me putting more effort and practice into foos in order to make an impact at World's or sometime in the future... ...or constitues me just giving up the game seriously, and going back to a DYP every week locally, and no more smack talk. Hmmm...tough decision. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't. Subject: Re: What you all wanna hear...my first National's. Everyone makes mistakes "losers question themself too much and give up too quick, "winners make mistakes also, but keep trying to make improvements and eventually succeed." Everyone can allways make improvements in foosball and seldom ever get bored. Thats the fun part about it. You have to continue taking the major exam as you go to and participate in the major tour events. 7 steps to follow: (1) get used to playing at tour events with calm nerves as if you are playing on your home court. Best way to achieve this goal is by going to and playing in tour events (2) practice on similar tables(new table feel with new balls) (3) must execute(this will take time to fully execute shots, passes, and defensive movements, properly at a high percentage execution level; however you must go to events to practice this under pressure and also must put in lots of quality time on home court (just like golf at the driving range or the baseball/softball batting cage) "50 quality practice pases and shots are better than 200 wild fast poor quality passes and shots "Utilize time efficiently" (4) take care of yourself at the tournaments. Maintain same eating, same drinking, and same sleeping habbits while at the tournament, as you do in your every day life when you are practicing seriously on your home court. (5) Do not let anyone intimidate you, Do not allow jerks waste your energy. Do not put anyone up on a pedestal, But Give much respect to the champions and competitors who have worked hard..They truly deserve it!!!! Be a good sportsman and learn to win playing within the rules so that when you make your mark it is true without a negative asterick. Positive smack is cool negative smack will hurt you sooner than you think. OH yes best of all allways provide encouragement to all players and especially to beginners. (6) Be patient 90% of the time and goose loose crazy 10% of the time in order to maintain your opponent's attention as you enjoy sliping a goal in now and then for a boost..ALways have a loose sleave for something to potentially slide out from under. "Play Smart not Hard", throw strikes at first and speed will come later and then accurate execution will stay with you. Don't overtax the brain use it as a natural tool, follow through and start over fresh after each shot, pass, or block. "Control Anger. Do not let Anger build up and Control You" (7) Don't ever think about quitting just keep thinking about "sooner or later" or "its just a matter of time" before it will all work out. Ocasionally take a 7 day break to fully unwind and clear the mind. ""Most people who quit and fail do not really know just how close they were to success."" Jack "mixinganotherone" Daniels
